Sergeant Major Thomas H. Griggs Jr. USMC (Ret)

Sgt. Major Thomas H. Griggs, Jr. passed away on November 15, 2007, at Live Oak, Florida. He was born on November 30, 1949 in Fort Myers.
Sgt Major Griggs served over 28 years in the United States Marine Corps. During his career he served with 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, 1st, 3rd, and 4th Reconnaissance Battalion's, plus held numerous assignments aboard both ship and shore stations around the world. He served 3 tours of combat duty in Vietnam and was part of the team who made the first combat parachute jump in Marine Corps history.
His combat decorations include 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, and 2 Navy Commendation Medals with Combat "V". He received over 95 non-combat awards for meritorious service as well.
